Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
"...ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine..."
Acts 5:28
We haven't been accused yet of filling New Zealand with our doctrine, but we are working on it! The tract project continues to steam on ahead with the word continually going out into the homes of Kiwis up and down the length of these islands. This month we received back another 35 responses to the Chick tracts we have been "letterboxing" NZ homes with and SIXTEEN of those responses were for salvation!!!! I actually received a phone call from a 21 year old girl in Wellington last week named Debbie. She received one of our tracts, trusted Christ as Saviour and sent me the reply card. We posted her out a Bible, some discipleship literature and encouraged her to attend a Bible preaching church that we directed her to in that city. She rang me up to thank me and gave a glorious testimony about accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour!!! All of the hard work on this end and all of the sacrifices made by so many of you on that end for this project were in a small way paid off that evening as I listened to this "Debbie" joyfully declare her new found faith in Christ! I realize our rewards actually await us in heaven, but these reminders from the Lord go a long ways toward encouraging the troops in the battle on this side of eternity. Perhaps the real joy regarding this young lady was in knowing that the Lord reached her through this tract project when humanly speaking, I would never have met her or gotten the gospel to her in any other way. Please continue to pray for our letterboxing outreach as we seek to FILL New Zealand with the doctrine and gospel of Jesus Christ!!
The REST of the News:
- The big news church-wise this month concerns the special meetings we had with Dr. Sam Gipp. God answered your prayers abundantly with good crowds out all three evenings and many contacts made that will hopefully "pan out" in the future. Our record church attendance up to this point has been 30; with Bro. Gipp here we had over 30 on all three evenings with 39 out for our Tuesday night service!
- I mentioned last month a conversation Debby had with our unsaved Roman Catholic neighbour (her name is "Mary" of course) who didn't believe the Bible. She came along to the meetings one evening and got a very good dose of old fashioned, Bible preaching - and was not impressed. It never ceases to amaze me how someone can be so hard to the truth and yet so under conviction at the same time - please pray that door will crack open a bit wider and that we can lead Mary to Christ!
- We also asked you last month to pray for a Roman Catholic lady who did get saved named Donna. She has not yet come to church but she is going through our Bible study booklets and the door is still open to witness to her family. Please pray that she will start coming to church.
- Last month we reported that our landlord had put our house up for sale - well it sold and we have until the end of November to find a new place to live. Three weeks of looking has thus far turned up nothing suitable. Please pray that the Lord will provide us with the place to live that he
wants us in.
- BIG ANSWER TO PRAYER! We asked you to pray last month for Shirley, the lady in our church with bone cancer. As of our last letter she was in the hospital and doing very poorly. Since then she has had a rather dramatic turn around and is doing considerably better. She is out of the hospital
and walking (both of which looked as though they would never happen again!) and hasn't missed a service in the past two weeks! She still has the cancer, but God has graciously given her more time! God answers prayer! Thanks for praying and please keep doing so for Shirley.
- We have a big night planned for our Nelson Bible study on December 1st - church dinner, bring a friend, etc. Please pray that we will be able to get some of the folks along to our outreach in this neighbouring city. Also, one of the families coming along to the study in Nelson has a very sick,
unsaved (?), 19 year old daughter named Michelle who is in the hospital at the moment - please pray!
- Most of you know that we have our permanent resident visas that enable us to stay in NZ for the long-term - what many of you do not know is that a permanent resident visa is virtually useless unless you also have a "returning resident visa" - a piece of the paperwork puzzle that expires every four years ensuring that your permanent visa is never really permanent. In any case, our returning resident visas expire December 7th and I filed this past month for a renewal. Praise the Lord there were no hiccups and the new visas came through without any problems!
- I would ask you to please pray for a Moslem girl named "Dyede" that wrote to us after receiving one of our tracts up on the North Island. She wrote saying that the Bible had strengthened her faith in Allah and that wasn't it great we were all worshipping the same God. I sent a pointed letter showing
the differences between Islam and the Bible, sent her a book and challenged her to get saved. She recently rang the house while I was out and told my wife that she was "writing me a letter." Please pray for this young mother to get saved!
- October has been a good month with souls saved, contacts made, and the believers here in Blenheim definitely encouraged. Satan continues to attempt to wreck havoc with sickness, things breaking down, accidents, and a few good doses of persecution. Your prayers are a vital lifeline to all of
the folks here - thank you so very much!
