Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ
"I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would
know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul."
Psalm 142:4
Rarely do opportunities to preach the gospel to groups of lost NZ'ers who
actually want to listen arise - but this month one did! I received a
phone call from a senior at the local boy's high school who has been
attempting to organise a Christian group on campus. He asked me to come
the next day and "share" something from the Bible over lunch. I couldn't
have gotten into Marlborough Boy's High School on my own to preach if I'd
had a dump truck full of gold, but with an invitation from a student, it
was no problem! For 40 minutes I explained what the point of the Bible
was, drew timelines & charts and preached the gospel with complete liberty
to about 15 young fellows - no teachers were even present to "police" the
situation. At the end of the lunch break two young fellows said they were
keen to trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour and prayed the sinner's prayer
- AMEN! I can only get back in by invitation and would appreciate you
praying that the Lord would open this door back up again.
The News:
1) Our church secretary/treasurer is a dear lady named Donna who has a host
of medical problems along with a very unsaved husband. This month she
began to have serious problems with her legs going numb and by the end of
the month ended up paralysed from the waist down - unless God intervenes,
this appears as though it will be a permanent condidtion. Would you
please pray for God's special grace to be upon Donna at this tough time and
that the Lord will somehow use this to give me a crack at her unsaved
husband - Peter has thus far been very resistant to anything to do with the
Lord.
2) Eons ago we asked you to pray for Donna's son, named Chris. Donna had
led her son to Christ some time back, but he has shown little desire for
the things of the Lord. In the last month or so however, Chris (who is 15)
has started coming to church and to teen group regularly, has started
memorising scripture and he has also been bringing visitors to church - AMEN!
3) This month I was able to re-establish some contact with a couple who
used to come along to our church named Peter and Peta. I led Peter to
Christ and baptised both of them about two years ago, but they fell away
from the Lord and church when they decided to remain living together rather
than getting married. Two years on, the Lord has been slowly working them
over and they have at least started talking to me again, agreeing. that
they need to be in church. Please pray for this couple to get back in
church and to do what is right.
4) October also saw our first wedding as a mission field church. After the
morning service on the last Sunday of October we held a small wedding,
church picnic and outdoor afternoon service in the garden of one of the
families in the church. Bro. Dave is a single fellow in our church with
two kids who married Mei Lei - a young lady from Vietnam who was recently
saved. I'm sure Dave & Mei Lei would appreciate your prayers for their new
family.
The verse at the beginning of this letter was my text for yesterday's
message. As summer breaks out on us here in New Zealand, there are a
myriad of witnessing opportunities - in November alone we have several
Christmas parades that we plan to pass out tracts at, several street
meetings planned, etc. Our people have been challenged to care for souls
and to show it by faithfully sowing the seed of God's word with tears
(Psalm 126:5-6). Please pray for God to continue to till up the hard soil
of Kiwi hearts - thanks so much and God bless!
Only Because of His Grace,
